MOWING & TRIMMING SERVICES
Agroscapes offers complete residential mowing
and trimming services. Proper mowing techniques are of the utmost
importance. Mowing heights should be no less than 2-1/2".
This allows the lawn to absorb more water, thus making time spent
on watering during the hot months less time-consuming. This also
helps ensure a healthier lawn, keeping the weeds choked out. Keeping
the grass too short will allow weeds to take over.
Our mowing services can be customized to suit
your needs. We offer weekly or bi-weekly mowing. This can include
string trimming, monthly edging of walks and drives, and blowing
of hard surface areas. Our crews are sure to leave you satisfied
with the outcome. Be assured that our employees are courteous
and professional. Our workmanship is among the best in the industry.
Why not give yourself one less thing to do
and let Agroscapes take care of your mowing this season. Your
neighbors will be Green with envy!
CHEMICAL APPLICATIONS & FERTILIZER
Building a greener, healthier lawn begins at the
roots. Providing your lawn with the proper nutrients during changing seasons is a must for health root growth and grass health.
We suggest at least a four lawn application program
which includes:
Early spring application applied in March and
April
• Granular fertilizer 30% slow release plus
a Pre-M crabgrass control.
Pre-M prevents crabgrass and many other weeds from germinating.
Late spring application applied in May and early
June
• Granular fertilizer 50% slow release plus
Mec Amine - D Broadleaf weed control, this application provides
a sustained balanced feeding and controls all broadleaf weeds
in one application.
Fall application applied in September and October
• Granular fertilizer 33% slow release plus
Med Amine - D Broadleaf weed control
• Fall is an excellent time to provide nutrients and eliminate
unwanted weeds
• Fall is the best time to control Broadleaf weeds and will
give you weed- free turf next spring.
Optional Lawn Services
• Granular grub control
• Turf disease control
To optimize your overall lawn health, we suggest
a Fall core aeration.
ANNUAL AERATION SERVICES
Core aeration is one of hte most important maintenance practices available for your lawn. Aeration helps control thatch, improves the soil structure, helps create growth pockets for new roots, and opens the soil for water and fertilizer to reach the roots of your lawn.
Aeration removes thousands of small cores of soil from 1 to 3 inches in length. The cores melt back into the lawn with proper watering. The holes left by the removal of these cores catch fertilizer and water. Roots naturally grow toward these growth pockets and thicken in the process. Aeration holes relieve pressure from compacted soils, allowing oxygen and water to move more freely into the root zone.
Annual of semi-annual aeration is strongly recommended for lawns on heavy clay soils, like those of Ohio, and lawns that require thickening.
SEEDING & SOD LAWN INSTALLATIONS
Installation of a Sod Lawn:
For an instant lawn, installing sod eliminates
problems with soil erosion, mud, and weeds. As long as the sod
is installed properly a fast beautiful lawn can be done almost
any time during the growing season.
You can find sod in several of the most
common grasses for your area. Trust your lawn care specialist
to suggest the best sod for your region. The initial cost for
sod installation is considerably more than grass seed. Seeding
costs about the same in the long run since you have to overseed
in spring and fall following the initial seeding to grow a dense
lawn.
Before installation the soil must be prepared
with plenty of organic matter so the soil will retain moisture,
yet drain well. Aerate it to encourage microbial activity. Once
the sod is planted, deep watering is of the utmost importance;
the water must penetrate 6 inches below the sod.
Installation of a Seed Lawn:
Grass seed is somewhat inexpensive to purchase and
covers a large area of prepared soil. You should buy the best
quality seed recommended for your area. It is best to consult
a lawn specialist for suggestions. Some seed mixtures you may
hear are Kentucky bluegrass, tall fescue and perennial ryegrass
and in various proportions.
Soil should be amended with a topsoil/comtil mixture and cultivated
to a minimum of 4”. Removal of any surface debris is recommended
as well as a fine grade. Once the seed has been installed, strawing
and netting or an application of penn mulch should be applied.
The use of straw however promotes more weed growth so you should
ask your lawn specialist for the best application for the size
area you are doing. Water faithfully and know that more seed must
be added the following to ensure a dense, plush lawn.
